Keep DACA Alive

By Rodnell, Class of 2024

Dear Editor,

I feel that it is incredibly inhumane and inconsiderate to revoke DACA.

It’s only fair that we keep this program (DACA) going. Thousands of people come to the United States, in hope for a better life. But getting rid of those people for no apparent reason like this is beyond cruel. Put yourself in their shoes, being terrified for your life, potentially starving, no education, and sometimes even seeing the ones you love perish. So many people were in that situation, then they herd of DACA and were filled with hope. Then years later after you’ve grown up and gotten used to living in America, you’re told to go back. Thousands of people will have to go back to living in such harsh conditions the average person couldn’t take it.

Not to mention some of those people will have lived here most of their lives and don’t remember living in that country, think about how hard it would be to adjust to some place you don’t even remember living in. When you think about it the United States has a history with immigrants, we’ve passed laws to help them and we’ve passed law against them. But this is going too far, also thousands of companies have hired immigrants that were protected by DACA. So why take these people away from their homes, their friends, their lives. I believe that every single immigrant that was protected by DACA should have the chance to become legal American citizens.
